ERION Implementing Open Science in daily research practice for Ethics and Research Integrity

The EARMA Ethics and Research Integrity Officer Network (ERION) discussed the implementation of Open Science in Ethics and Research Integrity during its 8th meeting October 13, 2021.

More than 160 colleagues from across Europe registered for the event. In a first part of the meeting, around 120 colleagues conducted the discussion online in a webinar format. In a second part of the meeting, around 30 members joined several discussion tables in breakout rooms where they brainstormed together by using interactive real-time collaborative tools for collecting ideas.

During the meeting, speakers brought different perspectives as ambassadors in universities, officers from the European Commission and representatives from European projects. Speakers reflected together with the ERION community members upon new challenges in open science, particularly in regards to ethics and research integrity and implications for daily practice. Particular attention was given to the newly adopted Horizon Europe programme of the European Commission and implications for ethics and integrity practitioners. Special attention was also given to challenging areas of open science with ethical implications next to examples of good practices (e.g. meta data, artificial intelligence, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), publishing, etc.).
